According to the Annual Report on the Tribunal Services Caseload 2010-11, claims for unfair dismissal, unauthorised deductions of wages, breach of contract, redundancy pay and working time directive were all up on the previous years’ figures. In total, 218,100 claims were submitted, 71,400 were conciliated by ACAS and 49,300 reached a hearing (28,100 of those were successful).

So if an ET3 form has arrived on your desk you are probably looking for support with the response and next steps.

Firstly don’t hesitate in taking advice. You have 28 days from the date of receipt of the ET3 and you will have received written confirmation of the deadline for responding with the ET3. Put the date in your calendars on your desktop and mobile and in your diary so that you do not miss the deadline.

It’s also important to start collecting and preserving your evidence early.
